തളർന്ന്  എലുമ്പിച്ച  കൈകാലുകളും , പിന്നെ അഴുകിയ  ഇടം കണ്ണുമായി , അയാൾ  നഗരത്തിലെ  ഫ്ലൈ ഓവറിനു കീഴെ കാതോർത്തു  കിടന്നു . ആരെങ്കിലും  വരും  .....!  എന്തെങ്കിലും  തരാതിരിക്കില്ല....! എന്ന  പ്രതീക്ഷയോടെ . സമീപത്തു കൂടെ ഒരുപാട് വാഹനങ്ങൾ   പോടിയുതിർത്ത്  പാഞ്ഞു മറഞ്ഞു . എന്നാൽ  മദ്ധ്യാഹ്ന൦  വരെ ആർക്കും  അവൻ ദൃഷ്ടിഗോചരമായില്ല . അമ്പതു ലക്ഷങ്ങളുടെ  നഗരത്തിൽ  , നന്മയുടെ  ഒരു മുഖം  കാണാൻ  കൊതിച്ച് അയാൾ  കിടന്നു  . പട്ടിണിയുടെ  ദൈന്യതയിൽ  പലവട്ടം  ബോധശൂന്യതയിലേക്ക്  വഴുതി വീണുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന വേളകളിൽ  .  ചാവാലിപ്പട്ടികൾ   , പുതച്ചിരുന്ന മലമൂത്ര ലിപ്തമായ  പഴന്തുണിയിലേക്ക്  ഇടയ്ക്കിടയ്ക്ക്  മൂത്രമൊഴിച്ചു കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നതിന്റെ   ഈർപ്പത്തിൽ , അവൻ ബോധം വീണ്ടെടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുമിരുന്നു . സായാഹ്നം വരെ തുടർന്നു  കൊണ്ടിരുന്ന ഈ പ്രക്രിയയുടെ  അന്ത്യത്തിൽ  , അവൻ പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ച  നന്മയുടെ മുഖം  , ഗാന്ധിയുടെ  ചിരിക്കുന്ന മുഖമുള്ള   നൂറിന്റെ  ഒരു നോട്ടായി  എവിടെനിന്നോ കണ്മുന്നിൽ  പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു . ആരോ  അയാളുടെ മൂത്രപ്പഴന്തുണി  മാറ്റി അത്  വച്ചു നീട്ടുകയായിരുന്നു ...!  . പൊടുന്നനെ   സൂര്യപ്രകാശം  കണ്ണ

In a poor zoo of India, a lion was frustrated as he was offered not more than 1 kg meat a day. श्रेयान्स्वधर्मो विगुणः परधर्मात्स्वनुष्ठितात्‌ । स्वधर्मे निधनं श्रेयः परधर्मो भयावहः ॥ भावार्थ  :   अच्छी प्रकार आचरण में लाए हुए दूसरे के धर्म से गुण रहित   एवं विकल  भी अपना धर्म अति उत्तम है। अपने धर्म में तो मरना भी कल्याणकारक है और दूसरे का धर्म भय को देने वाला है॥   श्रीमद्‍ भगवद्‍ गीता3/ 35 ॥ Better is one's own duty, though devoid of merit , than the duty of another well discharged. Better is death in one's own duty.
